Who we are

VZ Consulting (“we”, “us”) is a managed IT services provider registered in South Africa, registration number 2021/482308/07, at 613 Andries Strydom Street, Pretoria, 0184. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here.

What we collect, and why

If you complete the enquiry form on this site we collect your name, phone number, company name and whatever you write in the message field. We use it for one purpose: to answer your enquiry and, if it goes further, to quote and provide services.

If you phone or WhatsApp us we keep the number you called from and a note of what was discussed, so that the next person who picks up knows what happened last time.

If you become a client we hold the ordinary business records that go with that: contact details for your staff, billing details, and technical records of the systems we look after.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your information. We don’t rent it, trade it, or hand it to anyone for marketing. We don’t add you to a mailing list because you enquired about a broken server.

Website analytics

This site uses Google Analytics via Google Tag Manager to count visits and see which pages people read. That involves cookies and an IP address, which Google processes on our behalf. We use it to work out whether the site is doing its job, not to identify you. You can block it with any standard browser setting or extension and the site will work normally.

Who else sees it

Enquiries submitted through this site are stored in Beem, our own lead-management system, on infrastructure we control. Where we use third-party services to run our business — email, accounting, analytics — those providers process information on our instruction and under their own agreements with us. We will name the current providers on request.

We will disclose information where the law requires it, and not otherwise.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don’t become work are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Client records are kept for as long as we work together and afterwards for the period the law requires us to retain business and tax records — generally five years.

How we protect it

Access is limited to the people who need it. Accounts are protected with multi-factor authentication, systems are patched, and backups are encrypted. We apply to ourselves the standards we recommend to clients.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it if it’s wrong, ask us to delete it where we have no lawful reason to keep it, and object to us processing it. Email info@vzconsulting.co.za and we’ll respond within a reasonable period. There is no charge for a straightforward request.

If you’re not satisfied with how we’ve handled it, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za.

Changes

If we change this policy we’ll update the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing clients will be told to them directly rather than left on a web page.
